What tax could you claim back?
Answer a few quick questions to see which reliefs may apply and roughly what each is worth in a year.
This finder covers the reliefs most PAYE workers can claim for past years. It gives a range, because you pick a band instead of typing exact amounts. It is an estimate for one tax year, and it never promises a refund. Nothing you pick leaves your device.
What the estimate leaves out
- Your own tax record. Health expenses relief and the rent tax credit only help if you paid income tax in that year, and the rent credit cannot be more than your income tax bill.
- Costs that do not qualify. Revenue has rules on what counts, so check the guide for each relief.
- Anything already claimed, and any money your employer, insurer or the HSE already paid you.
- Other credits and reliefs on Revenue's list. This finder covers a few of the most common.
Claiming is free
Revenue's myAccount lets you review and claim for the last four years for free. Each year is claimed separately. You do not need to pay anyone to do it.

Questions
Is the refund finder free?
Yes. It is free and needs no sign-up.
Is my information sent anywhere?
No. The quiz runs in your browser. The answers you pick are not sent to us, not stored and not shared.
Why does it give a range?
You pick a band, such as 250 to 500 euro of health costs, so the finder works out the lowest and highest relief for that band. Your own claim uses your exact receipts.
Does a figure here mean I will get a refund?
No. It is an estimate. Whether you get money back depends on your own tax record, on which costs qualify, and on Revenue's decision.
Which reliefs does it cover?
Remote working relief, health expenses relief, tuition fees relief and the rent tax credit have estimates. Emergency tax and flat rate expenses are listed as things to check, without a figure.
How far back can I claim?
Revenue allows four years, and claims for 2022 must be made by 31 December 2026.
Based on Revenue's published guidance (four year rule, remote working, health expenses, tuition fees, Rent Tax Credit, flat rate expenses), last checked 25 October 2026. This is a general guide, not tax advice. Your own situation may differ, so check revenue.ie.
